Welcome to the premier of the only dedicated MS-13 news and analysis blog.

The idea for this blog came about as I read the Washington Post one day last year. The story that caught my attention was one about a police discovery of a brothel near my house. The two things that made me take notice were that, first there was a brothel operating in my neighborhood. Apparently, it was being run out of an apartment complex about 5 miles from my house. Second, when the police entered, they found a 24 year old prostitute, her pimp, and customers being held at gunpoint by four MS-13 members. The four MS-13 members had apparently just finished sexually assaulting the prostitute. As you can imagine bedlam ensued as police officers entered. Luckily, no one was killed and the incident was resolved with multiple arrests.

Naturally, I was intrigued. I was working as a counter-terrorism analyst at the time, and had profiled many criminal/terrorist organizations. So, my first instinct was to learn more about this criminal gang in my midst. I was surprised to find that there were many news articles and television reports, but there was sparse serious research, and no books. I began to study the phenomena of MS-13. I decided that I should publish a blog providing news and analysis of MS-13 with the hopes of compiling research on the gang, which I believe to be a growing threat.
