WDEF-TV/DT : Louis Lee : August 24th 2006
Summary:
A body was discovered in a burned out car in Cleveland, Tennessee, which is in Polk County. The murder is believed to be linked to MS-13 as two of the suspects in custody appear to be members. Detective Lieutenant Ken Simpson comments on the MS-13 presence in Cleveland, Tennessee saying, “Already, there are signs of their presence. Tagging of local businesses” and ” We've also identified some MS-13 gang members here, some by admission, some by other means. But we have identified several here.”
Analysis:
Cleveland, Tennessee is about 150 miles South East of Nashville. Msthirteen.com recently reported on a successful anti-gang initiative in Tennessee named, “Operation Safer Streets”. The operation mainly focused on intelligence collection. It could be the case that clique members in Cleveland overlap membership with cliques in Nashville or Atlanta. In all likelihood, cooperation and intelligence sharing between these departments would yield results. Certainly, sharing of enforcement tactics, techniques, and procedures would benefit departments with less sophisticated gang enforcement programs, if that is the case in Cleveland. Though, it sounds like they are currently tracking gang activity.

Don't "evacuate" or send them back.
Give the border patrol permission to shoot them when they step on US soil illegally.

I understand from local info the following was either MS13 or Mexican Mafia related because of retribution for activities the victim's brother was involved in. The actual murder was just not an usual stabbing as reported by the news media, but a brutal torture execution. This occurred on Friday morning 23 Jan 2008 in Cleveland, TN.
UPDATE Saturday from WRCB- Chattanooga.
Cleveland Police tell Eyewitness News the victim, Fredy Perez, was killed by a stab wound - not a gunshot wound to the head as authorities previously stated. They tell us, there was so much blood at the scene they mistook the head wound for a gun injury.

The Perez family speaks very little English, but their pain is easily understood. Their church pastor and his wife were already at their side as the family mourns
Investigators tell Eyewitness News the murder happened between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Friday morning. It was Perez's wife who found him lying in a pool of blood.
As police canvassed the area, Bradley County school officials put Bradley Central High on a partial lock down.
Now, as Christina and her family plan her big brother's funeral, they're left to wonder who could've done this and why.
The Cleveland Police say they've interviewed a witness who saw a delivery truck leaving the business earlier Friday morning. But at last check there are no suspects and no surveillance video.
Family and friends told investigators on Friday's Perez had a lot of cash inside the store because he cashed payroll checks.
