Gangs in the DC Area

Resource:

Analysis:
This is a 19 page PowerPoint describing gang activity (including MS-13) in the Washington D.C. area. It is posted on the Southeastern Police Community Relations Council website. It is pretty good and gives a high level of detail, describing individual cliques throughout the area. For example, among other facts, the presentation lists the active MS-13 cliques in Gaithersburg, which are:
WDLS (West Deer Locos Salvatrucha)
PVLS (Langley Park clique)
HLS (Hollywood Locos Salvatrucha)
124 Clique (formerly members of CLCS)

This is a nice presentation because of the level of detail given. Normally, news reports on the subject of gangs are frustratingly vague and imprecise. This presentation appears to have been written by a detective with the Gaithersburg, Maryland police department. So, the level of detail is good.
