Summary:
U.S. Federal authorities have arrested Maximiliano Castillo-Jimenez in a raid on an illegal alien stash house in Roma, Texas. Castillo-Jimenez is believed to be part of the Zetas illegal alien smuggling ring. DPS agents comment that the Zetas are becoming more dangerous on the U.S. side of the border.

Analysis:
The Zetas are linked to MS-13 through their mutual participation as hired guns for the Gulf Cartel. This is the first news report, to my knowledge, indicating independent Zeta criminal enterprises. In this case, alien smuggling. This could be a stage in the evolution of the Zetas from mercenaries to an independent criminal cartel.
